Dear Oakley House Parents and Guardians

Well – we have survived the first week! Over the year, I try to write to you fortnightly with a review of what your daughters have been up to beyond the classroom and in Oakley. I like to celebrate your girls’ successes and share an insight into some of what they experience in boarding.

Boarders’ Induction ended with the annual shopping photo when the new girls returned to Oakley after a great day in Oxford:

As well as lessons and activities this week, Houses gathered for their annual photo on Gordon Green:

And the week ended with a social for our new 4th formers, led by Monitors. As well as pizza and brownies, the girls played a getting-to-know-you Bingo and also enjoyed Mafia and a movie. It was a rather noisy but fun way to let their hair down (literally) after a busy week:

As well as being part of a smaller tutor group, each Oakley girl is part of a team in House where they can mix with girls of other ages. On Friday they took part in a photo competition and I thought you might like to see some of the results:

Over the weekend our Oakley mascot, Frank, paid a visit while Mrs Linfield was on duty. We know some boarders miss their pets and there was a queue to take Frank for walks on Sunday!

Next we have socials for the 5th and 6th forms as well as House badminton and more teambuilding endeavours.

Welcome to Oakley House!

Best wishes

Victoria Adams
